A private residence is not an empty construction site. Technical work should be organised around the parts of the home that remain in use and the surfaces that must be protected.
Agree the boundaries
Before materials arrive, establish access routes, working hours, storage areas and which rooms remain occupied. Photographing the immediate work area by agreement can make the starting condition clear without intruding on private spaces.
Protection should suit the surface: a stone floor, timber finish and fitted furniture do not all respond to the same covering or fixing method.
Contain the work
Cover floors and furniture near the task, separate the work zone where practical and use suitable dust extraction at the source. Keep tools and waste away from circulation routes. A daily tidy-up should include checking that access and essential services remain safe for occupants.
These steps matter in an occupied Costa del Sol residence where the owner, family or property manager may need to use the home throughout the project.
Hand back the space carefully
At completion, remove protection without damaging finishes, clear waste and inspect the surrounding area with the owner or their representative. Note any outstanding work rather than treating a clean room as proof that every technical item is complete.
Respect for the home is visible in the method of work as much as in the finished installation.
